Reach for this 6-inch Empire 170 swivel with a swivel lock and precision ball bearing when an easy-steering cart needs to run straight down a line on command.

A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks straight when engaged, then releases to maneuver again. It locks the swivel, not the wheel, so the cart keeps rolling while held to a line. The wheel is solid elastomer, a tough rubber-like compound that absorbs shock and runs quietly without going flat, grey and non-marking on finished floors. The precision ball bearing rolls and swivels with a lighter touch than a roller for easy hand repositioning when unlocked, and at 6 inches the caster carries up to 1,000 pounds and takes -40 to 230°F. The swivel turns on a kingpinless welded raceway, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 7-1/2-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
