Choose this 5-inch cast iron wheel for a heat-treat or foundry cart that carries weight through high heat, the size that adds rolling clearance over the 4-inch while holding its rating to 500°F.

A foundry or heat-treat floor combines two wheel-killers: sustained heat and heavy, abrasive debris. Cast iron answers both, since solid iron neither softens at 500°F nor cuts on the sand, scale, and chips that shred an elastomer tread. The 5-inch diameter rolls a loaded charge cart over that rough hot floor with less effort than a short wheel, and the roller bearing carries the weight through the slow trip to and from the furnace. The wheel runs heavy and loud and leaves a mark.
