Use this socket to turn a 1-1/2-inch square tube leg into a tool-free mount for a grip-ring stem caster.

A caster socket is a sleeve that seats in the open end of a hollow tube leg and gives it a round bore sized to hold a caster stem, so a cart, rack, or fixture built from square tube can take a standard caster without welding a plate or tapping the tube. This one fits a 1-1/2-inch inside-diameter square tube and accepts a 7/16-inch grip-ring stem, the sprung-ring stem that pushes in and holds without a nut, so casters drop in and pull out by hand for service or replacement.
