Set this 6-inch Empire 170 swivel with a swivel lock on an economical tow-line or cart that needs to switch between maneuvering and straight-line travel.

A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks dead straight when engaged, then releases to swivel and steer again. It stops the swivel from turning, not the wheel from rolling, which keeps a towed cart from wandering down a line. The AX build brings kingpinless durability and up to 1,000 pounds of capacity at this size, and at 6 inches it rolls over seams. The maroon round-profile polyurethane tread is non-marking and easy-rolling on a lightweight aluminum core. It runs on a precision ball bearing, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 7-1/2-inch mount height, and holds from -40 to 180°F.
