Choose this 5-inch Empire 170 phenolic swivel with combined face brake and swivel lock when a mid-weight cart works in extreme heat or around chemicals, then has to park dead still.

This is the total-lock build: the face brake stops the wheel and the swivel lock holds the swivel, so a loaded cart cannot roll or rotate when set. The wheel is phenolic, a hard resin-bonded composite that takes -65 to 250°F and resists oils, solvents, and water that break down softer treads. It is hard with no cushioning, so it rolls easily on smooth hard floors but transmits shock, can mark, and is best off soft or littered surfaces. At 5 inches it carries up to 1,000 pounds on a roller bearing, turns on a kingpinless welded raceway, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 6-1/2-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
