About This Caster - 170TM06201SL
Choose this 6-inch Empire 170 phenolic swivel with a swivel lock when a heavier tow-line cart works in cold or chemical areas and needs to run straight down a long line.
A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks straight when engaged, then releases to maneuver again, keeping a towed cart from wandering on a long run. It locks the swivel, not the wheel, so the cart keeps rolling when held. The taller 6-inch wheel bridges seams while staying hard and low-friction. The wheel is phenolic, a hard resin-bonded composite that takes -65 to 250°F and resists oils, solvents, and water. It is hard with no cushioning, so it transmits shock, can mark, and is best on smooth hard surfaces. At 6 inches it carries up to 1,200 pounds on a roller bearing, turns on a kingpinless welded raceway, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 7-1/2-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
Ideal applications
- 6-inch black phenolic swivel-lock caster up to 1,200 lb on cold or chemical tow lines
- Swivel lock tracking a heavier phenolic wheel straight, then freeing to steer
- Oil and solvent resistant 6-inch cart from -65 to 250°F that holds a long line
For a wheel brake instead of a swivel lock, the 170TM06201SFBC stops the wheel.
Pairs with: plain phenolic swivels on the free corners and these swivel-lock casters where you want to hold a line.
Wrong fit? Need a wheel brake or a cushioned ride? See the phenolic FBC-brake 170TM06201SFBC and the cushioned SE swivel-lock 170SE06201SL.
Also in this family: the 5-inch phenolic swivel-lock 170TM05201SL, or the full Albion collection.
