The 5/8-11 thread is a bigger, coarser stem than the half-inch, so it threads into a heavier-built boss and the one-and-three-quarter-inch length seats deep for a solid hold, the Performa rubber tread cushions the load and leaves no mark, and the Delrin bearing rolls dry with nothing to grease.
