The 1/2-13 thread runs only three-quarters of an inch, so it seats in a thin-wall boss or a panel where a one-inch stem would hit bottom before it tightened, the ball bearing carries a heavier load and rolls it easy, the HI-TECH polyurethane tread resists flat-spotting and shop oils, and it stays non-marking. Confirm your boss is 1/2-13 UNC and shallow before you order. It is the short-stem tough polyurethane swivel for a thin tapped boss.
