Set this 5-inch braked swivel on the front corners of a medium-duty cart that steers a finished aisle and then has to lock down, where the wheel carries weight and holds once set.

The wheel molds a polyurethane tread onto a cast iron core: the iron carries the load where a plastic core would flex, and the red poly tread keeps the roll non-marking. The tread-lock brake presses on the wheel to hold the loaded cart still while the swivel still turns, the 5-inch wheel rolls easier over seams, and the roller bearing carries the weight. Pemco bolts it through a 4 by 4-1/2 inch top plate, and the tread holds to 180°F.
