Choose this 8-inch Empire 170 phenolic swivel with an FBB face brake when the heaviest cart steers in hot or chemical areas and must stay put once parked.

The FBB brake is the wider-radius face-brake style, pressing a shoe against the wheel to hold the heaviest loaded cart on its spot. The wheel is phenolic, a hard resin-bonded composite that takes -65 to 250°F and resists oils, solvents, and water, with low rolling resistance on smooth floors. It is hard with no cushioning, so it transmits shock, can mark, and is best off soft or littered surfaces. At 8 inches it carries up to 1,400 pounds on a roller bearing, turns on a kingpinless welded raceway with no central pin to loosen, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 9-1/2-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
